Description

Bharat Mandir, Rishikesh, is one of the oldest and most significant Hindu temples in Uttarakhand. Located in the Mayakund area, near the Main Bazaar and Triveni Ghat in the heart of Rishikesh, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Hrishikesh Narayan.

The temple holds great religious and historical importance and is traditionally associated with Adi Shankaracharya, who is credited with reinstalling the deity’s idol. The main idol is carved from sacred Shaligram stone, making the temple an important place of worship for devotees visiting Rishikesh.

Bharat Mandir is conveniently located for visitors exploring the city’s religious and cultural attractions. It is approximately 1 km from the Rishikesh bus stand and around 2 km from Rishikesh Railway Station. Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is approximately 20 km away, depending on the route.

Visitors can explore the temple’s traditional architecture, experience its peaceful spiritual atmosphere and learn about Rishikesh’s religious heritage. The temple is also known for its special celebrations during Basant Panchami and Akshaya Tritiya.

Bharat Mandir is a worthwhile stop for pilgrims, history enthusiasts and travellers exploring the famous temples of Rishikesh. Visitors should confirm current darshan timings before planning their visit.
